That's a ridiculously cheap amount of money for Votto, but you can't really analyze the deal unless you know how many years they got off from arbitration, know what Votto would've commanded there (probably more than the Howard debacle a few years ago), so this is probably a good deal, who knows. The arbitration process is outdated and confusing, but it's here.

Its still short term though. Votto will be in the middle of his prime when this deal is done and get a huge extension/new contract.
